Senior manufacturing engineer Tom Esterl retires after four decades
Tom Esterl, Continental Machines/DoALL Sawing Products senior manufacturing engineer, retired October 21 from his 40-plus year career engineering quality parts for the complete line of DoALL saws.
Tom started with the company in 1976 as an N/C programmer – processing drawings in order to make a part. Before computerized programming, this included using a Flex writer to type the tapes that programmed machines to manufacture parts. Tom experienced first-hand the evolution of manufacturing. While today one machine can perform the operation to complete one part, he remembers when each machining element required multiple machines to perform the operation.
During the span of his career at DoALL, Tom also held the position of tool design technician and retired as senior manufacturing engineer.
When asked what he’ll miss most, Tom’s answer – the people.
“I didn’t just work for a company,” Tom offered. “I worked alongside people. We basically took on challenges together every day and solved problems. That’s what made it fun."
Best wishes to Tom, a valued contributor to the innovation and quality of the DoALL brand.
